Choosing the plant species within the landscape is very important and choosing the proper grass for your need no different. Ask yourself a series of questions:
- How much traffic will the lawn receive?
- Are there shade issues in the lawn?
- What are the aestetic expectations within the lawn areas?
- What are the maintenance goals within the area?
- Are there any other unique factors in the lawn area i.e., shallow soils, extreme pH etc.?
We sell only cool season grasses. These are grasses typically found at higher elevations in cooler climates capable of surving prolonged cold weather as well as thriving in temperature ranges and precipitation patterns common in Colorado. Most warm season grasses, while common in warmer regions face many obstacles in Colorado, especially above 6000 feet in elevation.
Over 35 years of trials, observations, and research we have developed a product line of Kentucky bluegrass blends and tall fescue mixes. Kentucky bluegrass and tall fescue are cool season grasses and are both incredibly well adapted to Colorado. We choose our grass blends to be aggressive and drought tollerant as well as resistant to many common lawn diseases. With proper ground preparation and maintenance our products are the keystone to a water-wise landscape.
